Referrals are pooled through a Primary Care Network. Once the PCN contacts an appropriate specialist, the specialist will triage the referral and schedule the patient for an appointment.

Alberta specialists usually contact the patient directly with appointment details within one month for elective referrals.

If you have not received an estimated waiting time within one month for an elective referral, you can schedule an appointment with the doctor for re-evaluation.
